Mt. Superior, Devils Castle and wild flowers in Albion Basin, Alta, Utah in July 2008. Albion Basin is located just up the road (east then south) from the town of Alta and is accesable from mid-July through August generally. Mt. Superior is due north of the Snowbird Ski resort. From 1968 to 1972 I lived year around in Alta thanks to Bill Leavitt. I hiked all of the terrain in these shots and stood on top of Mt. Superior at least 4 times. It was a summer ritual for employees of the Alta Lodge to make a group trek to the top. We'd usually shoe ski down the north slope into Big Cottonwood canyon and then hitch hike home to Alta. A good
